Candle Care & Safety Instructions:
Thank you for choosing Kenna Candle Co.! To ensure the best fragrance experience, longest burn time, and safest use of your candle, please follow these candle care guidelines.
Before Lighting, Trim the Wick
Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch. This helps:
- Prevent excessive smoke and soot
- Promote an even burn
- Reduce mushrooming of the wick
- Extend the life of your candle
Choose a Safe Location
Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from:
- Drafts
- Ceiling fans
- Open windows
- Curtains
- Paper products
- Pets and children
Keeping your candle away from moving air helps prevent uneven burning and excessive flickering.
First Burn Matters, Allow a Full Melt Pool
The first burn is the most important.
Allow your candle to burn until the melted wax reaches the edges of the container. This usually takes:
- 8 oz Candles: Approximately 2–3 hours
- 4 oz Candles: Approximately 1-2 hours
Doing so helps prevent tunneling and ensures your candle burns evenly throughout its life.
**Never extinguish your candle before a full melt pool forms during the first burn whenever possible.**
During Use, Burn Time Guidelines
For best performance:
- Burn no less than 1 hour
- Burn no more than 4 hours at a time
Excessively long burn times can cause the container to become too hot and may reduce the candle's lifespan.
Keep the Wax Pool Clean
Keep the wax free of:
- Wick trimmings
- Matches
- Dust
- Debris
Foreign materials in the wax can become a fire hazard.
Monitor Your Candle
**Never leave a burning candle unattended.**
Always extinguish the candle before:
- Leaving the room
- Going to sleep
- Leaving your home
Extinguishing Your Candle
For the cleanest burn:
- Use a candle snuffer whenever possible.
- Avoid blowing directly into the wax, which can cause splashing.
- Allow the candle to cool completely before replacing the lid.
When to Stop Burning
Discontinue use when approximately 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the container. Lets face it, by this time your ready for a new scent anyway. Continuing to burn a candle beyond this point may cause the container to overheat and could damage surfaces.
Storage Tips
To preserve fragrance quality:
- Store candles in a cool, dry place.
- Keep out of direct sunlight.
- Replace the lid when not in use.
- Avoid extreme temperatures.
Proper storage helps maintain fragrance strength and appearance.
